Living The Reiki Way Without Fear

Fear. Many faces come to mind here too when people’s eyes are filled with worry.

Like I said in the last bit about anger, in our Universe, everything tends to come down to two things anyway: love and fear, and Reiki my friends is pure Love. It is the opposite the umbrella of fear under the sub clause of anger and worry both.

We all worry from time to time about certain things. Getting sick, paying bills, or getting into car accidents. The list of negative possibilities is endless, but excessive worry, can lead us down a very dark path into mental neurosis.  Excessive worry can lead us to severe anxiety and paranoia, something which greatly impacts our ability to heal others and be healed, hence the the Gokai principle of “just for today, I will not worry.”

If we spend huge amounts of time obsessing over the “what could be’s,” and the “what if’s” we are putting an incredible amount of energy into manifesting those such fears. Remember that whole Power of Attraction thing?  Furthermore, this goes completely against the principle of “just for today:” of living in the Now.

Worrying makes it difficult for us to concentrate, and to cope. It disturbs our sleep and eating patterns. It makes us lose confidence in ourselves (all that hard work you did in Reiki 1). It perpetuates cycles of feeling physically and emotionally drained. If we are any of these, how do you suppose we can stay grounded and centered and connected to our Source?

This is why it is so important to “let go and let flow.”

If there is something that which you fear, or a person rather, it is time to let go. As scary as it sounds, I trust you know and would agree that no one deserves to be abused.

Reiki forces us to look at our fears with humility, and to heal those parts of ourselves that we are so afraid of. So what do you fear?

Fear of the unknown? Fear of the known? Fear of getting old, of being alone? Of death and/or dying? Afraid of failure? Afraid of making it on your own? Afraid of leaving your spouse? Afraid of telling your family you practice Reiki? Afraid of conversation? Afraid of standing up for yourself? Afraid of being pointed out? Afraid of being hurt and abused? Afraid of flashbacks? Afraid of yourself? Afraid of being true to yourself? Afraid that your family will stop loving you?

6649568965_3fdee1be88_b

What about specific phobias? Fear of spiders, heights, or water? Why? What deep seated insecurities or traumas have you experienced in this life time or in others?

Our thoughts are directly related to our actions, and “faulty thinking” creates some of the most upsetting emotions like anger, guilt, anxiety, resentment, and poor self-esteem. “Faulty thinking” means that you think in terms of black and white instead of considering that most things live in the gray area. There is no such thing as right or wrong, good or bad. Everything is somewhere in that liminal and beautiful in-between realm.

It also means that you blame others for your own mistakes, or blaming outside forces instead of accepting that people fail all the time, and it is okay. To err is human. Disappointment abounds. However, abuse is NEVER okay. And I strongly urge you, that if you are in an abusive relationship. Pack your bags, and LEAVE. Now.

Comparing yourself to others, jumping to conclusions by assuming the worst, filtering out and ignoring positives and self-proclaiming yourself a proud pessimist, does not a healthy Reiki Practitioner make.

Labeling yourself and others doesn’t help much either. Judging others without knowing who they are, what their story is, what they are going through, or what they have had to live through does not make you a compassionate and kind person. If you are to label, label everything and thing  a divine being of grace and beauty. Regardless of any other trait.

12212202686_5c45a31e6d_k

We are all adults. We should be able by now to look at ourselves without bias, and really get to the roots of our trauma, neurosis and dis-ease. Sure it may be scary, but we can take solace in that we are not in this alone. We have the techniques. We have the training. So we must utilize and apply it! We can become masters of our own fear, not the other way around. By using Reiki we can calm ourselves in the moment and reach for the higher ground of tolerance, compassion, strength, courage, and forgiveness.

This would be a great time to do the exercises on pages 114, 129, 131, 144-147, 148, and 151.  in “Living The Reiki Way” by Penelope Quest.

Here are 20+ Reiki Tips For Dealing With Your Fear:

  • Look into effective coping skills. Identify your negative thoughts, beliefs, and/or attitudes.
  • Journal about what you feel and say about yourself. Self image is a key component to overcoming your fears. If you know yourself, you know your limits.
  • HOBBIES! Gardening, meditation, knitting, wine making, bee keeping, etc.
  • Read a book or watch a movie. (Probably not a horror flick.)
  • Chamomile tea!
  • Aromatherapy. Lavender, Sandalwood, and Spruce—can help you relax.
  • Whenever you are afraid, smile, “psychology can follow physiology.”
  • Chane how you think about your worries, and about what you do as a result.
  • Make use of visualizations.
  • Stretch and release the inevitable muscle tension effect of fear.
  • Meditate with an affirmation or mantra of “Just for today, I will be calm, cool, and collected.”
  • Eat healthy foods without processed preservative hormones that do impact your reactions.
  • Get some exercise. Endorphins work!
  • Community service or volunteer work. Getting involved with helping others can take your mind off of your fears and changes your vibration so that you can attract less fear and more love.
  • Practice responsible alcohol consumption.
  • Don’t try to self-medicate with addictive drugs such as alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, shopping, sex. These things are only escapes from actually dealing with your emotions and situation.
  • Don’t run away from your problems, they always find you.
  • Express your fears with a trusted friend or therapist.
  • Express your fears through artwork. Make music, paint, or write a short story or poem. Pour all that you are into it.

11 Reiki Tips for Overcoming Fear

2505530738_9ea2f05803_o

John Lennon once said, “There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”

Some of the following are great therapy techniques, however, I do strongly suggest and recommend doing them in conjunction with a licensed Psychiatrist. Furthermore, this article is not intended to diagnose, or cure any disease. However, they are alternative methods to help you along your path towards health and healing in overcoming your fears.

Fear can be an extremely paralyzing experience. One traumatic event can affect a person’s entire life. In Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is believed that too much fear causes an energy imbalance in the body that leads to disease.
In conjunction with traditional therapy, counseling, and Reiki the following can be incredibly effective!
We all have fears. Whether it is a fear of germs and illnesses; fear of death and dying; a fear of independence; or the fear of not being enough; we are all too human in all of these. Everyone has some sort of phobia that stems from the fear of the unknown, for which there is always a reason. However, when our fears begin to take over our lives and start damaging our relationships with ourselves, others, or our environment; we must stop and pause and ask ourselves, “why?” “Why am I afraid?” “Why do I listen to media propaganda?” and “Why do I continue to stay?” when we are afraid of others and truly dangerous situations/relationships. Why give into the storm of fear, when we can embrace love and a truer sense of responsible rationality? This type of questioning ultimately leads us down an empowering journey self-healing and self-discovery where we learn the tools necessary to confront and conquer our fears.

1. Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy helps many clients with phobias and fears.

To sum it all up: “If you get into the habit of feeling confident and calm whilst hypnotically rehearsing lots of different situations you are quickly going to become generally a calmer more confident and a braver person naturally and instinctively.” Mark Tyrrell, therapist, trainer and author

While getting a Reiki treatment in conjunction, with hypnotherapy feels absolutely amazing! There are several Reiki practitioners that eventually get into Hypnotherapy anyway. This type of service shouldn’t be too hard to find. But if you cant in your area, a self-healing before and after your therapy session would be instrumental in solidifying your psyche.

2. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Technique

The same can be said for EMDR. Getting or using your self-healing techniques before AND after would be incredibly grounding and centering.

EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.  When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound.  If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes.  The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health.  If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.”

“Twenty positive controlled outcome studies have been done on EMDR.  Some of the studies show that 84%-90% of single-trauma victims no longer have post-traumatic stress disorder after only three 90-minute sessions.  Another study, funded by the HMO Kaiser Permanente, found that 100% of the single-trauma victims and 77% of multiple trauma victims no longer were diagnosed with PTSD after only six 50-minute sessions. In another study, 77% of combat veterans were free of PTSD in 12 sessions.” EMDR Institute, Inc.

3. Exposure Therapy

I know there are behavioral therapies that are quite effective as well, such as exposure therapy.

“Exposure Therapy retrains your Amygdala, the little almond shaped part of your brain, that forces us to make Fight or Flight decisions

You don’t have to do this radically and quickly. What you need to do is to continually arrange to activate your Amygdala by exposing yourself to what you fear, and then stay in place, making sure that the fear leaves before you do. You can use a variety of coping steps to help you do that, or you can just “float”, as Claire Weekes called it, and wait for the fear to subside. Either way, Exposure Therapy will enable you to retrain your Amygdala with new learning in ways it can absorb.” David Carbonell, Ph.D. Anxiety Coach

Confronting our fears is essential as a Reiki Practitioner. We know that there are always layers to work through. Every day is a new challenge, however, if we live and breathe in a state of fear, how can we effectively help others? Ultimately, if you haven’t already, you will be confronted with them during or after a client’s session. What is important is remembering your grounding techniques, cry if you have to, yell if you have to, and allow yourself those emotional releases.

4. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping Technique

This one you could do and learn on your own. Much like acupressure and Reiki tapping techniques, EFT follows a pattern of set points, much like a meridian.

“Simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem – whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc. — and voice positive affirmations.” Dr. Joseph Mercola

Usui Sensei taught several other techniques which did include tapping. Try visualizing energy moving along the meridian with your fingers, and alternate with visualizing energy blockages releasing with each tap.

5. Chanting Mantras, Affirmations, or Reiki Principle #2.

I always tell my students, when we affirm something to ourselves, we affirm it to be true. Words have power, they carry a vibration, and if repeated over and over again, they affect our brain wave patterns and levels of anxiety.

Many people I know simply count “One. Two. Three,” and repeat it as necessary. Others prefer Sanskrit mantras like, “Om Dakini Namah.” (I activate my security.)

And, lastly, remember those chants you’re “supposed” to recite every morning and night? If you aren’t a Reiki Practitioner, there is a Reiki Principle or Precept which states “Just for today, I will not worry,” or “Just for today, I will not be afraid.” If you like, try chanting the Precept in Japanese: “Kyo dake wa, Shinpai su na.”This has worked very well for me, when I am going through a random release of my own.

“Do one thing every day that scares you.”Eleanor Roosevelt

6. Breathe From the Stomach

“Once you recognize fear as an energy feeling in the body, you have the power to convert it into a more positive feeling. One of the greatest ways to do is through breathing from the energy center in the stomach.
EXERCISE:
1. Place you awareness on your abdomen
2. Set your two hands on the abdomen
3. On the inhale, expand your whole body
4. On the exhale, contract your whole body
5. Always inhale through the nose
6. Breath in and out massaging the internal organs
7. Your belly should feel like it’s filling up with water
Now, try this a few times by reading my instructions. You can even copy this page and paste it near your meditation area for a quick lesson. Soon, it will become second nature to you.” Robert Piper, speaker, author, specialist in Eastern meditation systems, and an advocate for a happier society.
What’s cool about this technique is you can do it anywhere. At your desk, in your car, in an elevator, or in the park. It would be even more powerful if you took your lunch-break outside, and breathed in this way while giving yourself a Reiki Self-Healing Session.
12987279765_0e4312b259_b

7. Meditation, QiGong, or Pranayama Yoga

These three techniques and exercises can be used either on their own, or together. The ancients created these techniques and they have been working for thousands if not hundreds of thousands of years. (Depends on which modern historian’s theories and research you read.) Give ’em a go! Watch some youtube videos or go check out some books at the library. Better yet, sign up for a free class in your area! I am sure someone, somewhere is teaching these for a very little amount of money. Maybe it’s FREE?
But regardless, they all seemed and seem to work for billions of people throughout the ages. Give it a try and see how it affects your levels of fear and anxiety. What do you have to lose? It’s not like it will get worse with these stress-relieving techniques.

8. Crystal Therapy

This one is great to use on yourself and/or with a licensed Crystal Therapist, I know a few really great ones locally near Albany, NY.  Crystal Healing with Deb’s Glad Stones is phenomenal in Guilderland! You can contact Deb via her Facebook page.
  • Rose Quartz – love is the opposite of fear & this stone embodies the love vibration
  • Blue Lace Agate – this stone is well-known for its centering & calming vibrational frequencies & works really well for reprogramming your thoughts & reactions to calm & positive ones.
  • Black Tourmaline – known for its ability to transmute & “cleanse” energy. So if you’re perceiving energy (the situation) to be negative, this stone is great for bringing it right back to neutral. It’s a powerhouse for that!
  • Chrysocolla – this stone has a very feminine & soothing vibration. It gently calms your heart chakra when its beating with fear. It will also give you more confidence when you’re gripped with fear when having to communicate to others your needs or when you simply need some security in social situations of any sort. Its a great one to keep in your pocket when doing any public speaking.
  • Red or Scarlet Crystals like Spinel is an Enhancer Transformer Crystal. Enhancers are minerals and crystals that form in the Isometric crystal system. They have internal crystal lattices of perfect cubic symmetry and internal harmony.
  • Laguna Agate is a Seeker Transformer Crystal. Seeker Transformers are talismans used when the desire is to find a way to transform a part of one’s life to a more desirable state. When they possess the Earth Power of the Transformer, Seekers such as Laguna Agate have the power to aid us to find new relationships that will transform some part of our life.
  • Carnelian:helps one to be creative and positive and to have confidence in one’s actions. It achieves this by connecting too and helping to clear; the base, sacral and solar plexus chakras of all emotional and karmic trauma. Therein; carnelian allows one to overcome ones fears by engendering great courage, allowing ones creative and self confident energies to flow bringing with them, that which the seeker most desires.
  • Amber:is a gem stone that enable one to shine and to use their innate talents and abilities, to bring abundance and prosperity into their life, indeed Amber is claimed to be the gem stone of manifestation. When combined with other stones such as Carnelian it aids with the creation of immense personal inner strength and the courage to take anything that life can throw at us.
  • Herkimer diamonds:- not only magnify the healing properties of any crystal in their vicinity but they also aid in detoxifying the body and therein strengthen the body’s own natural mechanisms.

Imagine getting a Reiki Crystal Therapy Session for an hour… Talk about relaxing and moving!

9. Aromatherapy

I love using essential oils. You can either diffuse, directly inhale, or add 3-7 drops total to bath water (as long as you add them to a carrier like epsom/sea salt, honey, or baking soda before you add to the bath.) You can also massage 1–2 drops of pure essential oils on your temples, neck, and wrists.

**Caution: Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use.**Also, inform yourself! Some should be applied with a carrier oil like coconut due to sensitivity. Also, citrus essential oils are phototoxic in extreme heat and with high sun-exposer, you may develop sunburn and/or skin discolouration. (However, there are other oils for this ailment.)

Sue Bovenizer, a natural health therapist certified in Aromatherapy, Massage and CranioSacral Therapy and Integral Yoga instruction; suggests the following:

“General oils that are useful in alleviating fear are chamomile, lavender, geranium, marjoram, bergamot, frankincense, neroli, and sandalwood. These oils can be used in combination or alone in an aroma lamp, bath, or in a massage oil. They can be helpful for children as well as adults, although with children one would use only one drop of up to three essential oils in a formula.

Oils supportive in detoxing the body after a sudden trauma or threat are lemon, juniper, sandalwood, clary sage and geranium. These are best massaged onto the body, especially around the kidney area (where the Chinese believe fear is stored). Bathing in a combination of these oils is very useful in clearing the system of adrenalin build-up, as well as tonifying the kidneys.

When fear is a constant in one’s life, because of job insecurity, stock market troubles, or general over-whelm, then oils such as fennel, ylang-ylang, frankincense, elemi, lavender and cypress can certainly calm the nervous system and relax the weary mind to bring back equilibrium and balance.

Love can bring up fears in even the strongest of characters. Some oils that assist in conquering fear of intimacy are rose maroc, neroli, jasmine, and ylang-ylang. Add patchouli, carnation or rose otto to the recipe if there is a fear of sexuality. And add galbanum and frankincense if a balance between the masculine and feminine is desired.”

Sue also offers Infant and Pediatric CST, Somato-Emotional Release work, Visceral Manipulation and Reiki (Master level). Sue maintains a practice in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Imagine getting a Reiki Crystal Aromatherapy Session for even just 30 minutes… Mind BLOWN! Talk about pealing back some energetic layers! You can always bring a bottle of your essential oil of choice to a session, and ask your practitioner to use it. If for insurance reasons they are unable to, they will simply have you apply the oils first.

10. Young Living Raindrop Technique of Oola Balance or Valor Blend

This technique involves applying therapeutic grade essential oils to the spine, neck and feet. Essential oils are actually dropped from about 6 inches above your spine, simulating rain drops! It feels like a rain drop gently striking your spine, and it is very relaxing and comforting. The session lasts about an hour however the benefits may last up to a week or more.

Gary found that combining several holistic techniques, described below, created a synergistic effect for the body. The three modalities that combine to form Raindrop Technique are:

  • Aromatherapy – Raindrop technique uses seven single essential oils, two blends and one essential oil massage blend during the session. It is congruent with the French application of aromatherapy where essential oils are applied NEAT (undiluted) to the body.
  • Vita Flex TechniqueVita Flex was brought to the US in the 1920s by Stanley Burroughs. It is an ancient Tibetan healing methodology meaning “vitality through the reflexes”. Its theory is based on the fact that slight pressure applied to the body creates an electric charge that is therapeutic to the body. This is known as piezoelectric.
  • Feather Stroking – This is similar to a massage term technique called effleurage. But this technique was actually termed by the Native American Indians.

Oola Balance Essential Oil Blend is designed to align and balance your center giving you an increase in concentration with a positive outlook. As mind and body are balanced, the ability to focus on passions, behaviors, and health are amplified for the better. It has over twenty therapeutic grade essential oils in Oola Balance! They include: Lavender (Lavandula Officinal), Frankincence (Boswellia Carteri), Ocotea (Ocotea Quixos Lauraceae Leaf), Sandalwood (Santalum Album), Ylang Ylang (Cananga Odorata), Orange (Citrus Auranium), Angelica (Angelica Archangelica), Geranium (Pelargonium Graveol), Hyssop (Officinalis), Sage (Lavendulifolia), Spruce (Picea Mariana), Coriander (Coriandrum Sativum), Bergamot (Coumarin Free), Lemon (Citrus Limon), Jasmine (Jasminum Absolute), Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum Nobile), Palmarosa (Cymbopogon Martinii), Rose (Rosa Damascena), Balsam Fir (Abies Balsamea), Myrrh (Commiphora Myrrha), Cistus (Cistus Ladanifer), Spikenard (Nardostachys Jataman), Blue Spruce (Picea Pungens).

Valor Essential Oil Blend is an empowering combination of therapeutic-grade essential oils that works with both the physical and spiritual aspects of the body to increase feelings of strength, courage, and self-esteem in the face of adversity. Renowned for its strengthening qualities, Valor enhances an individual’s internal resources. It has also been found to help energy alignment in the body. Valor may only have four essential oils including: Spruce (Picea mariana), rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora), blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum) and frankincense (Boswellia carteri) in a base of coconut oil; but it is no less effective.

11. Bach Flower Remedies

Anxiety/Fear can be cured with the help of Bach Flower Remedies. The Bach Flower Remedies work on the emotional level, removing emotional imbalances such as, depression, anxiety, jealousy, fears, trauma, self-confidence and impatience as an example.

The Bach Flower Remedies are 100% safe with no side effects and when you feel fine again you stop taking the remedies and you will remain fine.

  • Mimulus: Fear of anything you can put a name on: Fear of dying, being alone, spiders, losing a job, not be able to pay your bills, fear of flying, fear of a panic attack, fear of small places  etc.
  • Aspen: Fear of the unknown, fear that something bad is going to happen but you can not put a name on it.
  • Red Chestnut: Fear that something bad is going to happen to your loved ones.
  • Rock Rose: Frozen fear, terror, the deer in the headlight type of fear.
  • Cherry Plum: Fear that you may lose control on yourself, explosive anger, the feeling you wish to hurt yourself or others.
  • Elm: If you feel overwhelmed, too much to do, not enough time.
  • White Chestnut: If you have repeated unwanted thoughts or worries.

I like to take a Bach Flower Remedy before visiting family during the holidays, and while I give myself a self-healing session. These are great because if you feeling afraid, instead of popping pill after pill, sometimes all you need is a good old fashioned Flower Remedy. However, if you are on a prescription already, PLEASE CONSULT your doctor before going off your meds. Oftentimes, you can do a trial period and gradually lower your dose via a tapper while taking the remedies because they don’t interfere with narcotics.

Shoufuku no hihoo
The secret method of inviting happiness.

Manbyo no ley-yaku
The wonderful medicine for all diseases of the body and soul.

Kyo dake wa, okoru-na. Shinpai suna. Kansha shite. Goo hage me. Hito ni shinsetsu ni.
Just today, don’t get angry. Don’t worry. Be grateful and show appreciation. Work hard on yourself. Be kind to others.

Asa yuu gassho shite, koko-ro ni nenji, Kuchi ni tonaeyo.
Morning and evenings, sit in Gassho and repeat these words aloud and in your heart.

Shin shin kaizen.
For the improvement of body and soul.

– Usui Reiki Ryoho. Chosso, Usui Mikao.
-Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method. The Founder, Mikao Usui.

Living the Reiki Way is all about living in the present moment with compassion in your heart, and we only have to try one day at a time.

4945787775_5811b3aed9_b

Each of these principles seem so esoteric and foreign, yet simple. Everyone knows that anger and worry only lead to unhappiness. We know we are supposed to thank people for things. We know we should work hard. We know we should be nice. But all the time? In every moment? Regardless of traffic, and deadlines, and PTA meetings.

Regardless of heartbreak and accidents. Regardless of past or future obsession.

Now how do we manage that?

We can honour and respect everyone, everything, and every moment. It is possible. We can choose to invite people into our happiness rather than getting swept up in their storm. We can choose how to react to certain situations with nothing but compassion. But that means we will have to let go of a lot of stuff. A lot of previous conditioning. It’ll take a lot of work. But, hey, thank goodness it’s one of the principles, eh? And thank goodness we can always begin again and try harder in the next moment, the next day. Every morning is a new beginning, and wherever we are, we can be there totally. We can be present, completely and utterly present in all that we are doing. We can choose to be present and be alive, in this moment, right now, this very second. So, just for today, we can embrace pure mindfulness and pay attention to what has heart and meaning right Now because “there is no more joyful place in the world than exactly where you are, right now- because you cannot experience real joy when your mind is elsewhere, thinking of what has happened int eh past, or what might happen in the future. In this way, being more in touch with your experiences helps you to realize that you are living, rather than just existing.”

11043050124_afd6edce2a_k

Dr. Usui Sensei asked his students to live the Reiki Way by following the Gokai: the Principles. In this way we all can grow towards enlightenment in so many areas of our life. By following these precepts we can incorporate a higher vibration to our environments, to our clients, to our families and planet.

According to the American Psychological Association, anger is an emotion characterized by “antagonism toward someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong.” Anger can be a good thing. It can give you a way to express negative feelings, for example, or motivate you to find solutions to problems. However, we can choose to just for today, not allow toxic-anger to control our lives.

9620113235_395fdff1b3_b

In positive psychology, worry is described as a response to a moderate challenge for which the subject has inadequate skills. Worry can also be a good thing. It can show us that we care about others’ safety and our own and can help us to be constructive to change our situations. It is like anger, a survival mechanism. It reminds us to put on our seat belts and to use preventative measures against dis-ease. However, toxic-worry in the form of extreme anxiety can paralyze us and prevent us from achieving our highest good.

9581177646_b7c41267bc_b

Taking things for granted or living with regret are no ways to live. So we can show appreciation the things we do have, the people in our lives now, in the present moment, rather than the ones who have left us or the ones who aren’t yet. By living with Gratitude, we raise our consciousness where toxic anger and worry have no standing.

9944441985_f7a5b732e5_b

In this way we can devote our lives to this way of life. We devote ourselves to the Reiki Way because we value it. We value ourselves, our lives, our practice. We value our connection and our ability to heal ourselves and others. With enough experience and Diligence, we can work towards personal growth and development of our entire planet. We are the sum of our experiences, in every moment we can choose to make them be nourishing rather than debilitating.

15048085386_8eb351711c_b

If we are diligent enough in our own practice, think how much easier it will be to be so with others. After all, we cannot love or take care of others without loving and caring for ourselves first. Loving Kindness is more than just being nice. It’s being kind to everyone we meet, under any circumstances, in any situation, in the present moment. We need not always judge people based upon what they wear or what they smell like. We can be kind and respect all peoples regardless of age, gender, creed, tribe, nationality, language, culture, religion, or orientation.  Everyone we meet is ultimately trying to help us along, Higher Self to Higher Self, and we have a duty to meet all of creation where they are, in the Now.

12873776464_828fd0dbce_b

In the words of Penelope Quest, “remember that living the Reiki Way doesn’t mean you have to be solemn and serious- life is meant to be enjoyed, so have fun, live life to the fullest, share happy times with people you love and bless Reiki for the gift it is in your life.”

OSHO Day 3: Meditations on Anger

Osho on Osho_I am Not serious
“The science for transformation of life is called meditation. Through analysis, physical science reaches the atom and atomic power, but meditation reaches the soul and soul power.” ~Osho
In Osho’s words, Remember, we pour our energy into anger, then only does it become vital. It has no energy of its own; it depends on our cooperation. In watching, the cooperation is broken; you are no more supporting it. It will be there, for a few moments, a few minutes, and then it will be gone. Finding no roots in you, finding you unavailable, seeing that you are far away, a watcher on the hills, it will dissipate, it will disappear. And that disappearance is beautiful. That disappearance is a great experience.
Thought of the Day: “Today I acknowledge any feelings of anger and allow them to harmlessly pass by.”
“The way to deal with any angry emotion is not with repression for angry expression but of watching Let it surround you, be a silent watcher. See that this is anger. When it arises, listen to tit. Listen to its message. Keep alert, don’t fall asleep. You are not your anger, you are its watcher. That is the key. You become separate from it and so detached and so cool and aloof so much that it then doesn’t seem to matter at all, and in fact you begin to laugh. You begin to laugh at all the ridiculous things you have done out of anger. Because you are not anger. It is there, out side of you. But it is not you. Anger has no power of its own, it depends on us to participate. It depends on our cooperation.
Anger will disappear when we no longer participate. Finding no roots in you. Finding you unavailable. Seeing you far far away on the hills watching it will dissipate. And that disappearance is a great experience. That disappearance is beautiful. Seeing the anger disappear, great serenity arises. The silence that follows is blissful. You will be surprised that each time anger arises and if you can watch, you will fall into such tranquility that you have not known before. You will fall into such deep meditation. When the anger disappears you will see yourself so fresh, so young, so innocent as you have never known yourself. And you will be so thankful, you will even be thankful for anger. You will not be angry at it because it has given you a new beautiful space to live in. An utterly new experience to go through. You have used it. You have made a stepping stone out of it. This is the creative use of the negative emotions.”
anger2
So, Beloveds, what does anger mean for you? When was the last time you were angry? What were you angry about? Why? Was it a person, and were they really the reason you were angry? Or was it something else?
Today we were freely given the following as homework.
“Changing the Pattern of Anger”
It often seems that anger is just boiling below the surface, just waiting for the
opportunity to erupt. And even if you throw out your anger and find a way to express it,
unless you go more deeply into discovering the source of it – finding what it is inside
you that triggers it – the underlying pattern does not change. If all you do is throw it
out, afterward you start accumulating anger again and the pattern continues.
The meditation we present today is one that can break the pattern that makes us
accumulate this anger again and again. It is a method that uses the body as your
guide. Do it with sincerity, and then see what it brings you. The only way to find that
out is to actually do it. You can practice this method in your own time. You will need
about 20 minutes.
The Method
Each day, for 15 minutes, any time that you feel is good, close the door to your room
and, sitting or standing, start to become angry – but don’t release it, don’t express it.
Go on forcing it, go almost crazy with anger, but don’t release it, no expression … not
even a pillow to hit. Repress it in every way.
At first you might have to remember a specific situation where you found yourself being
really angry, just to bring back the feeling. But let your body be your guide, let the
feelings you had in your body at that time be your focus – not whatever it was that
caused the anger in the first place. Don’t intellectualize, stay in touch with the physical
sensations that come up when there is anger. And allow those sensations to become
more and more intense.
If you feel tension arising in the stomach, as if something is going to explode, pull the
stomach in; make it as tense as you can. If you feel the shoulders are becoming tense,
your hands want to make a fist, you want to hit somebody, make the shoulders and the
hands even more tense and tight.
If you find you are clenching your jaw, that you want to scream, clench your jaw even
tighter. Let the whole body be as tense as possible, almost as if it is a volcano boiling
within, but with no release. That is the point to remember – no release, no expression.
Don’t scream, otherwise the stomach will be released. Don’t hit anything, otherwise the
shoulders will be released and relaxed. For 15 minutes get heated up, as if you are
trying to reach the boiling point. For 15 minutes work the tension up to a climax. Put on
an alarm clock or timer and at the point the alarm goes off, try the absolutely hardest
you can.
Then, when the alarm has stopped… sit silently, close your eyes, relax the body and
just watch what is happening. Be a witness for at least another 5 minutes, more if it
feels right. Relax the body, and just watch.
If you find this method suits you, then do this sequence every day for two weeks. This
heating of the body system will force your patterns to melt.
And if you feel that anger is not your issue, you can substitute another emotion where
you would like to change the pattern – sadness, jealousy, fear –and adjust the exercise
accordingly.

Finding Your Flow Day 8: Activating Security

9136066772_6cebeaba90_b

Journal: Sunrise 6:02 am EST. Albany, NY 73° F Sunset: 7:43 pm EST. Muladhara. मूलाधार. Root Chakra.
Centering thought: “My life energy protects and secures me.” || Mantra: Om Dakini Namaha “I activate my stability.”

Today we were asked to take stock of the activities in your comfort zone. and the activities outside of your comfort zone throughout the day. We were also asked to then allow our inner energy to grow and open to the flow of protection. In this way we will be able to deal with anxiety and feel more secure in your movements, actions, and environment. By activating our Root chakra, Muladhara, of security and safety, we feel awakened, peaceful, and rooted deep within our being where nothing can harm us.

Last week, we experienced ourselves through the seven primary energy centers of consciousness. This week, we will clear, open, and activate each of our seven chakras, transforming old constrictive patterns into expansive, powerful, and joyful expressions of our true selves.

As we activate the chakras, the energy begins to flow freely in its natural state. The movement is not random or blind—it is intelligent and purposeful. It not only clears away the obsolete habits and conditioning in our lives . . . it also structures new patterns of thought and behavior that reflect our infinite potentiality.

We all have been through trauma, and conditioning since we were children. We have spent many life times, remembering and reawakening to the reclaiming of our own vital energy. It takes time to outgrow patterns of behaviour, and especially patters where ego and fear like to hold on and dictate how we perceive and interact with the world. We have a fundamental right to be safe. We have a fundamental right to be secure with ourselves, with all that we are, with all that we identify as, and with all that our beautiful spirits are or will be.

By embracing these, we awaken our inner warriors, and embrace our vulnerability. To do so takes great courage, and we should all applaud our efforts at transformation and coming into our own in our own good and healthy time.

“Security . . . it’s simply the recognition that changes will take place and the knowledge that you’re willing to deal with whatever happens.”  —Harry Browne

All of our chakras affect each other. When one is happy and healthy, the others begin to harmonize. When one is unbalanced however, it affects them, and can cause dis-ease, and even illness. The root chakra, is especially important because it provides us with the foundation of our very survival. It is the home of our deep instinctual nature, and keeps us grounded as well as centered and healthy in our physical reality.

Sabrina Reber writes, “When our root chakra is balanced we have no need or desire to manipulate, force or control another with distorted energy to get what we want. We have faith in our own personal manifesting abilities and we do not expect others to take care of us. We do not give our power away and we know we are fully capable of providing all of the basic human necessities needed for our survival. We are a leader, not a follower. We are stable, healthy, courageous, patient and powerful.”
4320466924_efd8e4713c_o
An unbalanced Muladhara will manifest by having survival issues, such as money issues. Being “over focused on making money even at the expense of others (greed) or the inability to make money in order to provide for your basic necessities. Anger, violence, fear, lack of self worth (leading to self centeredness), disorganization, fearful, restless, anxious, disconnected from the body (overweight / underweight / unhealthy), lack of faith, inability to relax, inability to stay grounded, loosing our center and oftentimes over reacting, inability to be in the present moment – always in the past or in the future.” The list could go on.
All of this can be caused by traumas in early childhood, and even in the womb. Sabrina explains that, “Traumatic Birth, Difficult Childhood, Insufficient Bonding with Mother, Physical Abuse, Abandonment, Fearful Environment, Distorted and Controlling Religious Beliefs,” all lead to an imbalanced Muladhara.

When the chakras are imbalanced for extended periods of time, they often build up and become energy blockages that physically manifest as bodily symptoms such as “Constipation, Bone Disorders, Weight Problems, Sciatica, Degenerative Arthritis, Knee Trouble, Eating Disorders, Aging, Gastrointestinal Disorders.”
2555811072_e2bb5f9d76_o
In seeing this, we can agree with Sabrina and also see that “a large portion of our society has a blocked or unbalanced root chakra. The majority of us were raised by well intentioned but unawake parents who were unable to provide us with the nurturing necessary to fully develop this chakra. The root chakra is developed while we are in the womb and up until around 12 months. If we were raised in a safe, loving, nurturing environment the chances of our root chakra developing fully are very high, therefore, providing a very strong foundation for the rest of our chakras to fully develop. If this chakra is not developed our foundation will be shaky and our roots will not be strong enough to provide continued support for our highest growth potential. When this occurs, we protect ourselves by withdrawing our Spirit from fully grounding into our root chakra so we can avoid experiencing our pain. Although this serves a purpose by helping us move through emotional traumatic events in our lives; if we do not eventually re-open the root chakra, allowing the life force energies from the Earth and our Spirit to enter our system, we will become depleted leading to an energetic imbalance, illness and disease.”
“In addition many religions, governments and the media induce inappropriate levels of fear keeping people stagnated in their root chakra. Fear of God, fear of people with different beliefs, fear of food shortages, viral outbreaks, food contamination, invading countries, nuclear threats and a failing economy keep us stuck in a perpetual state of fear making it very difficult for our root chakra to function properly. In addition, many of us have bought into the belief that we are separate from each other and God, and it is our separation consciousness that creates all suffering and fear. When we begin to grasp the idea that we are each divine sparks, NEVER separated from God [The Universe, The Great Spirit, The Divine, etc.] we will be able to remove the cages of fear that enslave us. Fear is the demon of the root chakra. In order to release our fears we must first admit we have them in order to transform them. Ignorance is not bliss and denial keeps us stuck. Once we acknowledge our fears and work through them they will be released clearing the blocks we have created in our root chakra. Once they are cleared we free up space for earth energy to move into and through our root chakra ascending up into our second chakra called the Sacral Chakra.”

What are some tips to help balance your Muladhara?

Physical: Eat red fruits and vegetables and drink red wine. Tomatoes, apples, strawberries, raspberries, beets, cherries, red beans, watermelon, radishes all have Muladhara energy in their colour. Also, look into self defense classes or some sort of martial arts.

Mental: Balance your checkbook or consult an accountant to help get on a budget.

Emotional: Confront your fears. Speak out against childhood abuse. Talk to your parents about how and why they raised you the way they did. Try to understand them from their point of view. I suggest using a counselor to facilitate the conversation, especially if you will be confronting past abuse.

Sexual/Spiritual: Meditate upon a red mandala, talk with your inner guides about what has happened, and what lessons are to be learned to change your patterns of behaviour.

Environmental: Surround yourself with red. Colour therapy works!  Wear a red tee shirt, sweater or dress. Put up a picture or red painting. Change your sheets. Change your phone cover or background.

Again, by embracing these, we awaken our inner warriors, and embrace our vulnerability. To do so takes great courage, and we should all applaud our efforts at transformation and coming into our own in our own good and healthy time.

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. ”  —Eleanor Roosevelt

Congratulations on completing the first week of our journey together! During this time, we have taken the important first steps toward initiating transformation by going within to connect with who it is we really are. Our awareness has expanded and we have opened to our authentic and divine nature. We have learned to honor our passions and long-held dreams while freeing ourselves from the limiting thoughts and beliefs that hold us back from the life we desire. We are now more open to our infinite potential, our destiny.

Today, we embark on a powerful journey designed to help us gently release our fears, clearing the way to greet each moment with a sense of strength, connection, wonder, and freedom. As we experience this special guided meditation, we encourage you to connect with your True Self and the deep understanding of your abiding relationship with the infinite.

Our centering thought for today is:

“I am free.”

Our Sanskrit Mantra for today is:

“So Hum.”I am.

MINDFUL MOMENT

As you prepare for today’s meditation, take a moment to become conscious of your breath, inhaling and exhaling slowly and deeply. Begin to imagine the breath as a tool for cleansing and letting go of all that is not serving you in the moment—a tool which allows you to gently observe the state of your body, mind, and spirit. Conscious breathing is a simple technique to transform and release feelings of fear, anxiety, and tension as you come into the present moment. Give yourself permission to relax into your breath as you begin to enter more deeply into stillness.

What are you most afraid of? What is holding you back?

We all have fears. It is part of being human.

When we acknowledge these fears by asking the question, we take away their power, and are then able to pluck them like weeds and allow them to compost to then grow into beautiful flowers.

As Deepak told us today, “Some of the most spectacular sights to take in are not found on the road most traveled. In fact, they may require preparation, the clearing of the path both figuratively and literally. And for some of the most coveted pristine views, those thought of as heaven here on earth, the trusted support of a wise guide to lead the way. What motivates some to take such a challenge? Does the witnessing of nature offer the great regard of special insight? Or is it the process of having an idea that is so intriguing, there is a willingness to do whatever it takes to make it happen? Maybe it is the experience of an epic quest, a story to tell complete with view and victory. A memory so vivid it lasts a lifetime.”

The journey of the fool in the tarot, or the seeker’s quest goes deep in our own inner mythologies. And always, ALWAYS, the seeker has a series of challenges that test his/her fear and courage to persevere. Oftentimes a nature spirit, guardian, or even a fairy godmother comes along to help nudge us in the right direction that is aligned with our higher self.

“From vision to victorious completion, this is a trek that quite possibly reveals the very strength and potential that lies within.”

I invite you to realize and take such a journey. Is not the destiny you seek to find during [your daily spiritual practice] actually your unique and inherent heaven on earth? Deepak says, “now is the time to open to the treasure that lies within your soul, your dharma.”

Let’s travel there… together.

If you have questions, if you need advise. I am always here to answer.

I am free.
You are free.

A Personal Healing Programme

self reiki model female

The following article is from the The International Center for Reiki Training by William Lee Rand, founder and president of The International Center for Reiki Training.

Each of us comes into this existence with a unique set of personal qualities that include aptitudes that can develop into skills and abilities. Also there are often challenging situations that affect us. Like the rudder on a boat, our choices determine what direction we take in life and what possibilities we explore and develop. When we are confronted with difficulties, as well as opportunities, it is how we deal with them that determines how they affect us. So it is important that we use our ability to choose wisely. A life well lived is a life of growth, a life of healing and development.

As we look back on our lives, it is easy to see turning points where we made a choice that had a powerful effect on where our life went and who we became. By thinking about our past choices and where they have taken us, it is possible to learn from our experiences and improve our ability to choose. Life is filled with many possibilities, and it is important to realize that sometimes it is the more difficult decision that brings us the greatest benefit.

If you are ill in any way or if you are experiencing any part of your life that is less than what you would like, know that it is possible to change, to heal, and to create the kind of life you want. If you want something you don’t have, then the most important thing you need to do is to choose this for yourself. Then take action.

The universe is always in a state of balance. A problem, difficulty or challenging situation cannot exist unless its solution exists at the same time. If you want to solve a problem, the first thing you must do is to decide that you are going to find the solution.

Here is a law of the mind, a law of life that is very important to understand. Definiteness of purpose, sustained over time always produces results. Think about that! It always produces results! This is the most important concept you can focus on in terms of personal healing and accomplishment. If you want to heal, you need to form this into a definite purpose and pursue it with a passion and stay with it until you are healed.

The mind is like a magnet. It attracts what it thinks about most, the stronger the thoughts the stronger the attraction. If you want to heal yourself, or develop any positive quality, it is very important for you to make a clear decision that this is what you are going to do. As you hold this thought in your mind with the definite belief, and knowingness that you will achieve your result, you will attract to yourself all the resources and people you need to create the results you want.

We each have special talents, qualities and gems of value that we may not be fully expressing or perhaps not expressing at all. We were born on this planet to fulfill a purpose and that purpose is to discover our truth, who we are, what makes us unique, take possession of this precious part of ourselves and express it to the world.

Regardless of the life situation you find yourself in, it is possible for you to heal or to improve yourself and your life in a most definite way.

Reiki is a powerful tool for healing and personal growth. Its energy comes from the highest spiritual source and because of this, it will always create the best results for all concerned. It can be used to heal the body, the mind or the spirit; and can also guide us through life. It can help us develop latent talents and improve the quality of everything we do. So, if healing and personal development is what you want to accomplish, if you have not already done so, take a Reiki class.

Self-Healing Program
In developing your personal Reiki self healing program it is important to take the time to try different techniques. As you do so, be aware of the results and if the technique seems to be moving you toward your goal. If it is, continue with it, if it is not, try something else. In this way, you will develop a personal system of healing that is exactly right for you. This will greatly improve your results. There are many ways to use Reiki and I would like to present a few ideas and techniques that are powerful and effective.

Self-Treatments
Use of self-treatments is an important part of any Reiki healing/self improvement program. Set aside 15 to 30 minutes each day to give yourself a Reiki treatment. This can be a complete treatment using all the hand positions or you could use Byosen scanning and treat only those areas you are guided to. While giving yourself Reiki, your vibration will go up and as this happens I suggest you allow yourself to contemplate the various activities taking place in your life. As you do this, it is likely that you will find healthy new attitudes developing about issues in your life, as well as receive creative ideas on how to deal with them. In order to keep track of this, I suggest you get a notebook to write these ideas in and then use them in your action plans.

Personal Healing Alliance
Receiving treatments from others is also important and in fact, this is probably the most important thing you can do to keep your Reiki energy strong. I suggest you go one step further and develop a personal healing alliance. To do this, find someone you can trust who also has a health or life issue they want to heal. Meet at least once a week to exchange Reiki sessions and share what has happened since your last meeting. Form an agreement between yourselves that you will support each other completely in finding solutions to your issues and becoming completely healed. Be willing to share everything and keep what you share in your meetings strictly confidential. Use all the creativity and inspiration that comes up to solve your issues or achieve your goals. During the week set aside time to send distant Reiki to each other. You can also call each other on the phone if something comes up. These meetings must be taken seriously and it is important to focus on the steps listed above and not allow them to slip into just a social event. This is a very powerful process and will bring deep and very meaningful levels of healing.

Reiki Affirmations and Prayers
Reiki can be used in a powerful way to enhance affirmations and prayers. Place your healing goal or desired accomplishment on a 3×5 card. Using energy, draw Reiki symbols over the card. I recommend using all three Reiki II symbols and any others you may have. Then hold the card between your hands and give the card Reiki. As you do so, repeat your affirmation and/or say a prayer giving thanks that your goal has been achieved or that your healing has taken place. Say your affirmation and/or prayer over and over. Do this with conviction at least once a day. You can also carry the card with you and repeat this process whenever you have a spare moment during the day.

Going Against the Issue
A process that will accelerate healing is to go against the issue and use Reiki to heal the feelings and energies that come up. If you have a fear of doing something, go ahead and do it anyway – go against the fear. This process restimulates dormant psychological feelings causing them to come to the surface where you can more easily use your Reiki to heal or release them. It takes courage, but it is very powerful. Have a Reiki friend work with you to help if possible. As an example, if you have a fear of public speaking, go ahead and arrange to give a speech. Before the speech give yourself Reiki, and focus on any feelings that are coming up. After and even during the speech, give yourself Reiki focusing on the feelings. Or, if you have a fear of meeting people, decide to attend a party and deliberately introduce yourself to people at the party. Give yourself Reiki before, after and during the party if possible. If it is too scary to physically do it, then just imagine doing it in your mind and direct Reiki to the feelings as they come up. After treating the issue in this way, at some point you will be able to do it for real. When using this process, it is important to use common sense and not engage in any activities that could be dangerous.

Raising Your Vibration
Anything that will raise your vibration will help you heal more quickly. Doing things such as improving your nutrition, developing an exercise program, meditation, getting adequate rest and sleep, massage, yoga exercises or stretching, Tai Chi, social activities and other forms of entertainment will act to raise your vibration. As your vibration goes up, it will be easier for you to gain insight into your situation and create more effective solutions. It will also cause all other forms of healing to work better.

Use of Other Modalities
Remember that Reiki works in a very positive way with all other forms of healing. So, with your clear intention, and the use of Reiki energy you may be guided to other healing resources. Be on the lookout for these additional healing methods. Methods such as other techniques, changes in diet, the use of herbs, and homeopathic remedies, etc. These could greatly improve your healing process.

Medical and Psychological Care
There are many excellent medical doctors and psychologists who are open to alternative healing. If you have a medical or psychological condition, it is important that you get their advice and follow it if you feel guided to do so. If you have a serious condition and surgery or drugs are recommended, it is important to get a second opinion before deciding what to do. Remember, Reiki works in harmony with medicine and psychology and there may be some important and even necessary therapies they can offer. It is important to consider them when developing your healing program.

These are a few ways to use Reiki to create your personal healing program. Your inner guidance and your clear intention will cause you to discover others not mentioned here. Being fully engaged in this process is necessary if you are to derive the greatest benefit. To quote Helen Keller, “Life is an exciting adventure, or nothing at all.” You are the one who decides which way it will be for you. The challenges we face in life contain the lessons we are here to learn. Do not withdraw from them, nor attempt to solve them half heartedly, but instead, fully embrace them. Accomplishment of a worthy personal goal brings with it more than just the results you were looking for. It also brings the certain knowledge that we can change and create the kind of life we want. In the end, when we examine our lives, it is not so much what we know in our heads that is important, nor even what we do, but what we become.

Day 19 – Miraculous Union

“It is not our purpose to become each other; it is to recognize each other, to learn to see the other and honor him for what he is.” —Hermann Hesse

Miraculous Union

Today our meditation is dedicated to sacred love and the experience of union in our relationships. As we have explored, love and spirit are the same force. At the core of every being there is only love, because the core of every being is only spirit. The two are the same—an abstract, unifying force that is all pervasive.

When we awaken to our essential loving, spiritual nature, we let go of old fears and defenses and connect with others in love. As we recognize the spirit in everyone we meet, we feel a deeper sense of peace, acceptance, and compassion. Our perspective shifts from “I” to “we,” and in this space of expanded awareness, miracles unfold.

Our centering thought for today is:

“I radiate love.”

Our Sanskrit mantra for today is:

“Sat Chit Ananda.” In unity I experience the state of truth, pure being, and bliss.

MINDFUL MOMENT

You are more powerful and influential than you think! Today use this influence to change the world. Take a few moments to visualize an energy pulse that is filled with love and peace for all. One way to cultivate energy is to clap your hands once and when they touch with impact begin to rub them together, back and forth. Feel and visualize the heat growing and expanding between your hands. Hold this energy ball as if it is the most precious gift you have to offer to the world in this moment. Allow your hands to separate and feel the energy grow within the space between your hands. Open your hands, sending this tangible loving intention to someone you know or to everyone in the world. Once you have offered your gift, let go, knowing that your love has already been received. —Deepak & Oprah

Today’s mindful moment reminds me of what we do with Reiki.  We heal with loving touch and focused energy. Thanks Deepak for making my morning begin with a smile. 🙂

Oprah reminded me this morning that over the last 19 days we have developed a service to self and service to others around us. She had us consider what we are uniquely offering instead of longing for others to fill a need.

Such a powerful statement.

How will you radiate love today?

In unity we experience a state of truth, pure being, and bliss. Namaste.

Day 17 – Miraculous Communication

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” —Mother Teresa

Miraculous Communication

In the yogic tradition, our ability to communicate with clarity and compassion is governed by an energy center or chakra located in the area of our throat. When the energy in our throat chakra is flowing freely, we’re able to express our truth without worrying about being judged or misunderstood. We’re also able to listen with our heart, truly hearing the messages other people are sending us. When the energy of our throat chakra is congested, however, we may feel anxious about how other people will react to our views and we are likely to censor ourselves. We may also find it difficult to listen with an open heart and an open mind.

Today in our meditation together we will focus our attention on expanding the flow of energy in our throat chakra, holding the intention to communicate with clarity, compassion, and honesty.

Our centering thought for today is:

“I fearlessly speak my truth with love.”

Our Sanskrit mantra for today is:

“Om Ritam Namah.” My actions and intentions are supported by cosmic intelligence.

MINDFUL MOMENT

Today we invite you to try a conscious communication practice rooted in the Buddhist tradition. Before you speak, ask yourself these four questions: Is what I’m about to say kind? It is true? Is it necessary? Does it improve upon the silence? If you can answer yes to all four questions, then your words will resonate with authenticity and love. Consider posting these four questions somewhere you will see them each day, maybe adding them to the wallpaper on your phone. Each carefully delivered communication will provide you with abundant blessings.

This is a pivotal moment on our journey together, a time to choose how we aspire to use our voice in the world from this moment on. In essence, we are choosing the tone and quality of our relationships and daily life experience. Let’s take a moment and check in with ourselves right now.

  • Were you open and accepting in your most recent interactions?
  • Did you give the gift of your attention to those speaking to you?
  • Did you allow yourself to see the miracle of each person that crossed your path?
  • If you got off-track did you take a deep breath, forgive yourself and then start the practice again?

Just “be” with your answers, without judgment. Now take a moment to consider how you want the world to see and receive you. Each time you communicate with others in the coming days, we encourage you to practice with a light-heart and loving approach, giving yourself permission to gently speak your truth as you open to the truth of others. —Deepak & Oprah

Communication. Today we meditated upon sincere, clear, truth filled communication.

Virginia Woolfe said, “If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people,” and oh how true that statement is.

Speak your truth. Speak your mind. We can tend to keep our truths silent. If we are suppressed and our spirits are neglected, we can find it very fearful to misspeak. We get conditioned to sometimes not even speak at all. Traumatic experiences can render anyone temporarily mute until the time comes to release your Soul’s deep truth. Sometimes, we may speak too much, and without listening. We may think we know it all, or we may even speak with untrue and insincere words. We may be vicious and cruel to others and even our selves with negative talk. How many times in the past few years have you heard of children using their words viciously to such an extent that it forces other children to commit suicide? Speaking, and more importantly words have power. speaks balance find by speaking a timeless truths. We must all as a while learn to cultivate an attitude of lovingly speaking our truth. With mindfulness comes love. With love, insecurity will vanish. With insecurity gone, fear of misrepresentation will float away.

Today, I will speak my truth. Today, I will fearlessly speak my truth with love.

Namaste.
