Reiki Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

5945190112_b258ae9bda_b

I get many inquiries about my secret recipe for Reiki Cookies. Now, no two people can bake the same way with the same tastes, but here is the recipe that I generally follow. Enjoy!

  • 1 cup (2 sticks, 8 ounces, or 230 grams) salted butter, softened
  • 1 1/3 cups (250 grams) dark brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large farm eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Madagascar vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (190 grams) all-purpose unbleached flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground Saigon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
  • 3 cups (240 grams) rolled oats
  • 1 10 oz bag of Dark chocolate morsels
  • And lots of Love

Start with an intention to create health and happiness. I normally envision nice ooey and perfectly imperfect cookies coming out of the oven.

In a large bowl, creme together with a fork the butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt together. Combine and stir the mixtures into the larger of the two bowls. Stir in the oats and chocolate morsels.

As you are mixing, visualize your loved ones and all who eat your cookies as smiling and being full of health and happiness. Mix with your known symbols, and you can always beam Reiki over the bowl and/or the baking sheet before you bake.

Chill the dough for a bit in the fridge and then scoop it, or scoop the cookies onto a sheet and then chill the whole tray before baking them. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C) before you scoop the cookies, so that it’s fully heated when you’re ready to put them in.

The cookies should be spaced two inches apart on a baking sheet. Bake them for 11-13 minutes (your baking time will vary, depending on your oven and how cold the cookies were going in), taking them out when golden at the edges but still a little undercooked-looking on top. Let them sit on the hot baking sheet for five minutes before transferring them to a rack to cool.

Enjoy with tea and good company, and you should have enough cookies left over to take over to a neighbor or loved one who could use a pick-me-up.

Gassho!

New Moon Blessings of the Last Stage of Endurance: The Wild Bride and Bridegroom

facebook button (111x111)Please, join in where ever you are. Awake or asleep. Read this and reflect, or meditate. Thursday, October 23rd 2014 at 9pm EST.

Four months ago, we began a journey towards wholeness by diving deep into our psyches. Through calm reflection and/or meditation, we have explored the foolish “devil’s bargains” that we have made in our past, and what we have given up or what has been taken away from us. We have discovered and continue to discover the things and people which no longer serve us and have learned to healthily cut and break free from them. We have begun to learn to wander with instinct and eat that which feeds our minds, bodies, and souls. We have felt the longing loneliness and pain of the soul and have learned to seek out sanctuary. We have delved into the thick realm of the Wild, and now, we wed ourselves to it, to our own wild and free spirit.

At a fundamental level we all crave our true nature of unity and balance.

We know that if we look deep into ourselves that we will find this feeling inside of us, just as much as it is in our physical environment. We can take the various aspects of our personality and become whole. We can take off our many masks and finally shine our authenticity into the world. We can look up at the stars and know this in our bones. We can feel it in the grass under our feet, the wind in our hair, and the warm sun on our faces.  We can see it in the eyes of our kindred, the others who run with the wolves. Our brothers and sisters of the wild.

We have suffered much, but our suffering has not been in vain. We have learned a great deal about who we are as human beings, as mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters. We have learned to heal, and we have learned how to howl at the moon.

And we continue to learn incredible things about our selves, as we take these last steps on this 7-Part Healing Meditation practice based on Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ work in her soul-opening book Women Who Run With the Wolves, and the story of the Handless Maiden.

So, welcome again friends to this 7-Part Series of Deep Psyche Digging & Surgery.

Now begins Part-7, the Seventh Stage of Endurance –
The Wild Bride and Bridegroom.

If you havn’t already done so, or would like to refresh your memory, please read the full short story HERE: http://completehealthcircle.com/2014/07/21/new-moon-blessings-of-the-first-stage-of-endurance/

And if this is your first time with us, please take the time to look over the previous Stages:

IN THE STORY

While the Handless Maiden becomes no longer handless, her love, her archetypal King goes on his own initiation rite of passage for seven years.

He makes a vow of purification without eating or drinking for seven long years. Somehow something sustains him, a force much larger than himself. He, like the maiden, must learn the struggles and suffering of loss in life and undergo a primal metamorphosis in which he is given seven untold lessons.

Through him, we reach under our urges and appetites to some deeper meaning that stands behind and down. His initiation has to do with learning a kind of deepening with regard to understanding our personal appetites, sexual and otherwise. Through him, we learn the value and balance of cycles that sustain human hope and happiness. Through him as a metaphor for all of our masculine animus energy, we seek to find the fully imitated feminine energies that are within us, and we hold fast, not allowing anything to get in our way. We initiate into our masculine wild self, and do the real work in preparing for showing and acting the true soul-Self of the newly initiated woman in day-to-day life.

And so the animus in us wanders about in nature towards the forest.

Once his search and journey end with venturing into the deep woods where the maiden and his child are, he is taken in by the white spirit guardian of the inn, and a veil is placed over his face. Here he undergoes a deeper initiation, again like the maiden, so that they may both be on the same wavelength, and see with the same awareness and level of consciousness. When he awakens, he sees two beautiful Beings gazing down at him. They are his wife and child. They declare themselves, and he believes them with utter joy but does not understand how the maiden has hands. After explaining that with her many travails and care that they have grown back, and the inn-spirit retrieves her silver hands from the trunk. Now that they have found each other again, and apologies are exchanged, a great spiritual feast is had and the two have a second wedding.

samuraiwedding

Here, at the end, the woman has created and acquired deep spiritual archetypal powers:
the kingly animus, the childSelf, the old Wild Mother, and the initiated maiden. She has been washed and purified many times. Her ego’s desire for the safe life is no longer lead dog. Now these powers lead her pscyhe.

And so has the king because when one force of the psyche changes, the others must shift as well.

At this stage, we are no longer the frail wandering soul. Now we have been initiated, now we know our ways in all matters. Now we are wizened with the stories and counsel ways of the Wild Mother. Now, we have hands.

This seven year period in the story represents the empathic reorganization shifts our way of being in the world. We have reoriented the animus in this manner and initiated it into our “female” personal work. Our inner energies have been given time to find harmony. Our “male” and “female” energy have danced their dance inside of our psyches and the energy is now becoming whole and united. Suffering through the same seven-years-long initiation is the common ground between feminine and masculine. It gives us a strong idea that instead of antagonism between these two forces, there can be profound love, especially if it is rooted int eh seeking of one’s own self.

It is important here to understand that both the maiden and king are caused to walk psychic lands where such processes take place, but they can only be learned in the wildish nature, only next to the skin of Wild Woman. It is usual so one so initiated should find their underworld love of the wild nature surfacing in the topside-world life. Psychically she has the fragrance of wood fire about her. It is usual and normal that she begin to act here what she has learned there.

This is one of the most amazing things about this long journey: we do continue to do all the regular topside life living: loving lovers; birthing babies; chasing children; chasing art; chasing words; carrying food, paints, skeins; fighting for this and the other; burying the dead; doing all the workaday tasks as well as this deep, faraway journey.

At this time, we are often torn in two directions, for there comes over us an urge to just wade into the forest as though it is a river and to swim in teh green, to climb to the top of a crag and sit face into the wind. It is a time when an inner clock strikes an hour that forces us to have a sudden need of a sky to call our own, a tree to throw our arms around, a rock to press our cheek against. Yet we MUST live our topside life as well.

It is to our extreme credit that even though we want to, we don’t go driving off into the sunset. Or, at least not permanently. Because we need our outer life to exert the right amount of pressure in order to complete this journey. It is way better to stay in the world during this time rather than leaving it entirely, because the tension is better and tension makes a precious and deeply turned life that can be made no other way.

So now, we see the animus inside of us go through its own transformation, and readying itself to be an equal partner to the maiden and childSelf. At last they have finished their work (for now), at last they are reunited and there is return to the old mother, the wise mother, the mother who can bear it all, who helps with her wit and wisdom… and they are all united and have love of one another.

Beloveds, the endurance of our souls has been tested and met. And we go through this cycle every seven years, the first time very faintly, and usually, one time at least, very hard, and there after in a rather memorial or renewing sort of manner. Here at last, let us rest now and look over this lush panorama of initiation and its tasks. Once we have been through the cycle, we can choose any or all tasks to renew our lives again at any time we wish for any reason. Here are some to pick from:

  1. to leave the old parents of the psyche, descend to the psychic land unknown, while depending on the goodwill of whomever we meet along the way
  2. to bind the wounds inflicted by the poor bargain we made somewhere in our lives
  3. to wander psychically hungry and trust nature to feed us
  4. to find the Wild Mother and her succor
  5. to make contact with the sheltering animus of the underworld
  6. to converse with the psychopomp (the magician)
  7. to behold the ancient orchards (energy forms) of the feminine
  8. to incubate and give birth to the spiritual childSelf
  9. to bear being misunderstood, to be severed again and again from love
  10. to be made sooty, muddy, dirty
  11. to stay in the realm of the woodspeople for seven years till the child is the age of reason
  12. to wait
  13. to regenerate the inner sight, inner knowing, inner healing of the hands
  14. to continue onward even though one has lost all, save the spiritual child
  15. to re-trace and grasp our childhood, girl/boyhood, and woman/manhood
  16. to re-form our animus as a wild and native man; to love him; and he, her
  17. to consummate the wild marriage in the presence of the old Wild Mother and the new childSelf

“The Handless Maiden” is a real-life story about us as real women and men. It is not about one part of our lives, but about our entire lifetime. It teaches in essence that for us the work is to wander into the forest over and over again. Our psyches and souls are specifically suited to this so that we can traverse the psychic underland, stopping here and here and here, listening to the voice of the old Wild Mother, being fed by the fruits of spirit, and being reunited with everything and everyone beloved to us.

Yes, the time with Wild Woman is hard at first.

To repair injured instinct, banish naivete, and over time to learn the deepest aspects of pscyhe and soul, to hold on to what we have learned, to not turn away, to speak out for what we stand for… all this takes a boundless and mystical endurance.

When we come up out of the underworld after one of our undertakings there, we may appear unchanged outwardly, but inwardly we have reclaimed a vast wildness. On the surface we are still friendly, but beneath the skin, we are most definitely no longer tame.

MEDITATION

So now, let’s consider our centering thought,  “I embrace my true nature.

Consider listening to the following music during the meditation:

Now, let’s prepare to meditate.  Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes.  Become aware of your breath and breathe slowly and deeply.  With each breath, allow yourself to become more relaxed.  You may wish to use a mantra with this meditation like Om Satyam,” I express my pure awareness into the world.”

Repeat it silently to yourself.  Om Satyam

With each repetition, feel your body, mind and spirit open and receive just a little bit more of this nurturing and innate ability that is within you. With each repetition, imagine yourself walking along the path towards your soul’s home.

Connect with it. Allow the stars to pull it out from your depths, and OWN it! Feel the warmth return to your hands. Feel the warmth return to your heart. Feel your entire being warm with the power and strength that is inside of you.

Visualize yourself in an enchanted forest. Your inner child is with you as a guardian and so is the white spirit innskeeper. Walk around, feel the leaves crunch under your toes. Dig them in and feel the cool earth beneath the soles of your feet. Take a deep breath and smell the forest: the leaves, the earth, the cool crisp air. Watch your breath rise up in front of your face dancing in front of you in a beautiful piece of artwork.

Then, along your path you start to notice a figure walking briskly towards you, but you are not afraid. The figure begins to run faster and calls out your name with his or her arms stretched out, this is your animus.

Run towards your animus with an open heart and stretch out your own arms in tandem and embrace. When you feel the warmth of the hug, feel your skin, the hairs all over your body stand on end. You can feel energy from the forest rising all around you. Your energy fields fuse together in a ball of divine universal life force energy. Your inner child and innkeeper spirit join you, and then even the spirit of the forest rises and mixes until you are all one surging ball of light.

Bask in this fluid energy, relish what feelings and emotions you are experiencing. You are light, you have no form but this one, and with your awareness look out and see that you have become a shining sun… a a single star in the milky-way. You are floating in the expanse of space and are loved and filled with joy and peace and harmony. You are one with the Universe. You are whole. You are the purest expression of the Wild.

In this space you may wish to ask your guides and the cosmos some questions. Be patient. Listen for you answers. They may come in the form of visions, words, or feelings.

When you feel you have received what you need, know you can always come back to this space, and ask what you can do to show your gratitude for your answers.

When you are ready come back down to the realm of the forest and walk hand-in-hand with your animus and your inner child, and notice the innkeeper spirit floating around and dancing happily at your return.

Open your eyes and write down any impressions in your journal. Know that wherever you go from here you carry them always in your heart and psyche.

SOME QUESTIONS FOR YOUR JOURNAL:

  • What sensations did you experience?
  • What do you remember?
  • Did you get glimpses of a past life?
  • What were the answers to your questions you have been asking?
  • Was there a renewed connection to your path?
  • A reclaimed strength inside of you you have long lost?
  • A passion you have long ago walked away from?
  • What have you learned thus far?
  • What are you feeling right this moment in your depths?
  • Want to howl at the stars with me?

Be sure to journal your impressions in your journal, and pay especial attention to your dreams the night of the meditation.

Feel free to comment below your experience.

NAMASTE BELOVEDS and thank-you for journeying with us on this deeply personal inner quest!

Reiki Guardians of the Capital Region

spirit_guides-2

We are a group of diligent and dedicated Practitioners who wish to walk our talk by nourishing and nurturing the Capital Region of NY State.

We are a circle of healers, holistic practitioners, social workers, shamans, healthcare staff, caretakers, peacemakers, students and teachers who have realized that we have a duty to our community. We meet every two weeks to discuss Random Acts of Kindness and community service* that benefits the entire Capital Region.

*[VISIT OUR FACEBOOK PAGE BY CLICKING THE BUTTON BELOW]

We want to show people that being a practitioner is more than just the act of practicing in a temple or healing room. It is practicing in your every day life, in every situation, in every moment that you are being a force for healing to all Beings. That means the lawyer in line at the cafe, AND the homeless person by the door. That means the hungry stray cat, AND the squirrel in your backyard. That means the young woman at Planned Parenthood, AND the protesters picketing outside. That means the earth you walk and drive on; the air you breathe in and out; the sunlight that keeps us warm and healthy; and the waters you drink and bathe with.

We follow a code of Integrity, Respect, Heroic Courage, Honour, Compassion, Honesty, Sincerity, Duty and Loyalty. We live this sacred credo based on the Gokai Principles. It means that we do not allow toxic anger and fear to control our lives, and it means that loving kindness can remedy all dis-ease. This is what we have dedicated our lives to learning and sharing.

We focus on our true essence and our place in the world, and the Truth is that our true essence is Love, and our place in the world is to shine it in all directions for the good and health of all!

So we vow to help those in need. We vow to visit and hold space for those in their darkest hours. We vow to aid the hungry, dis-eased, and poor of spirit. We vow to be peaceful warriors for our brothers and sisters. We vow to do all of this and more.

So many forget that this was what the original Reiki teachings were all about: focusing on one’s true essence and our place in the world. The truth is that our true essence is Love, and our place in the world is to shine it in all directions for the good and health of all.

Many people are still unsure of what Reiki is, and much less want to take the time to know. Many see it as woo-woo or just a scam, no matter if it has been scientifically proven and is gaining more and more standing with the medical community.

1396991226409475

The thing is people don’t have the time, it’s the way they live and the way they love themselves.

Many know they should eat organic, exercise, read, play, speak truthfully, and act kindly; but so many dictate their lives around a schedule, a clock, a fixed “this is the way it is and there’s nothing I can do to fix it.” Many don’t make the time for a massage, much less an hour long Reiki treatment.

They’d rather spend their money on drinks at the bar or the prostitute down the block. They’d rather self medicate with drugs like processed sugars, fast food, cigarettes, marijuana, promiscuous sex, cocaine, and blood diamonds from Africa.  They’d rather “save” money now but pay later at the expense of their health. They’d rather focus on their materialistic lifestyle rather than charity. They’d rather buy the $2000 designer shoes or bag instead of $200 on food from the farmer’s market. And then they go to church or temple or what have you on Sunday to “cleanse” themselves to just do it all again. They do this and wonder why they are still unhappy and unhealthy?

The thing is that They need Love. They need random acts of Kindness. They need to feel Connected.

They need to feel like They Matter.  They need to not feel Alone. They want to be Seen and Heard. They want to be able To Love and Be Loved. They want to be able to not be judged. They want to be able to talk Soul-to-Soul, but their tongues have forgotten how to speak from the heart. They are afraid to confront their Fear and Their Mirrors.

We can help. As practitioners this is Our Work.

The Reiki Guardian strives to see everyone as a whole person—body, mind, and spirit—and provides care that is culturally appropriate and consistent.  The Reiki Guardian is sensitive to the boundary needs of all people.  They hold in confidence all information, stories, confessions, and personal information given in good faith.

They along with other humans, have a responsibility for initiating and supporting actions to meet the health and social needs of society.  Above all, they serve humanity with full respect for the dignity, autonomy, and sensitivity of their fellow human beings. They have a responsibility to establish environmental harmony so that planetary healing may take place.  They consider the health of the ecosystem in relation to the need for health, safety, and peace for all citizens.  Reiki Guardians view all of existence as sacred and interconnected and serve with reverence and respect for all.  Healing relationships occur within all of existence and include not only people, but animals, plants, and the local, global, and cosmic environment.

c698e36d3b53bd6419e34391e2c6f15f

Now, just for today, I understand that not every Reiki Practitioner or healer wants to hold themselves up to such high standards. Or at least not yet. And that is okay, for now.

But if you are interested, but also a bit daunted- know that all of these will not be asked of you Now. These virtues of the Reiki Way take a life time to master. We all make mistakes and fail. It is through failure that we learn.

I expect my students to fail. I expect myself to fail as well. Because it is important to know that we are all human, and we do fail, but we can fail, and fail some more, and fail again better.

I may not expect my students to measure up to all of these, however I do expect my students and fellow Reiki Guardians to embrace their inner Reiki Samurai, their inner Spiritual and Peaceful Warrior. I expect us all to set higher standards for ourselves, and to live with honour.

When you are ready to answer the call, and my guess is that you already have by reading this, then contact me and join your fellow Guardians.

There is much work to be done.

Living The Reiki Way Just For Today

Reiki_Wallpaper_2___1600_x_960_by_Minyassa

Shoufuku no hihoo
The secret method of inviting happiness.

Manbyo no ley-yaku
The wonderful medicine for all diseases of the body and soul.

Kyo dake wa, okoru-na. Shinpai suna. Kansha shite. Goo hage me. Hito ni shinsetsu ni.
Just today, don’t get angry. Don’t worry. Be grateful and show appreciation. Work hard on yourself. Be kind to others.

Asa yuu gassho shite, koko-ro ni nenji, Kuchi ni tonaeyo.
Morning and evenings, sit in Gassho and repeat these words aloud and in your heart.

Shin shin kaizen.
For the improvement of body and soul.

– Usui Reiki Ryoho. Chosso, Usui Mikao.
-Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method. The Founder, Mikao Usui.

Living the Reiki Way is all about living in the present moment with compassion in your heart, and we only have to try one day at a time.

4945787775_5811b3aed9_b

Each of these principles seem so esoteric and foreign, yet simple. Everyone knows that anger and worry only lead to unhappiness. We know we are supposed to thank people for things. We know we should work hard. We know we should be nice. But all the time? In every moment? Regardless of traffic, and deadlines, and PTA meetings.

Regardless of heartbreak and accidents. Regardless of past or future obsession.

Now how do we manage that?

We can honour and respect everyone, everything, and every moment. It is possible. We can choose to invite people into our happiness rather than getting swept up in their storm. We can choose how to react to certain situations with nothing but compassion. But that means we will have to let go of a lot of stuff. A lot of previous conditioning. It’ll take a lot of work. But, hey, thank goodness it’s one of the principles, eh? And thank goodness we can always begin again and try harder in the next moment, the next day. Every morning is a new beginning, and wherever we are, we can be there totally. We can be present, completely and utterly present in all that we are doing. We can choose to be present and be alive, in this moment, right now, this very second. So, just for today, we can embrace pure mindfulness and pay attention to what has heart and meaning right Now because “there is no more joyful place in the world than exactly where you are, right now- because you cannot experience real joy when your mind is elsewhere, thinking of what has happened int eh past, or what might happen in the future. In this way, being more in touch with your experiences helps you to realize that you are living, rather than just existing.”

11043050124_afd6edce2a_k

Dr. Usui Sensei asked his students to live the Reiki Way by following the Gokai: the Principles. In this way we all can grow towards enlightenment in so many areas of our life. By following these precepts we can incorporate a higher vibration to our environments, to our clients, to our families and planet.

According to the American Psychological Association, anger is an emotion characterized by “antagonism toward someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong.” Anger can be a good thing. It can give you a way to express negative feelings, for example, or motivate you to find solutions to problems. However, we can choose to just for today, not allow toxic-anger to control our lives.

9620113235_395fdff1b3_b

In positive psychology, worry is described as a response to a moderate challenge for which the subject has inadequate skills. Worry can also be a good thing. It can show us that we care about others’ safety and our own and can help us to be constructive to change our situations. It is like anger, a survival mechanism. It reminds us to put on our seat belts and to use preventative measures against dis-ease. However, toxic-worry in the form of extreme anxiety can paralyze us and prevent us from achieving our highest good.

9581177646_b7c41267bc_b

Taking things for granted or living with regret are no ways to live. So we can show appreciation the things we do have, the people in our lives now, in the present moment, rather than the ones who have left us or the ones who aren’t yet. By living with Gratitude, we raise our consciousness where toxic anger and worry have no standing.

9944441985_f7a5b732e5_b

In this way we can devote our lives to this way of life. We devote ourselves to the Reiki Way because we value it. We value ourselves, our lives, our practice. We value our connection and our ability to heal ourselves and others. With enough experience and Diligence, we can work towards personal growth and development of our entire planet. We are the sum of our experiences, in every moment we can choose to make them be nourishing rather than debilitating.

15048085386_8eb351711c_b

If we are diligent enough in our own practice, think how much easier it will be to be so with others. After all, we cannot love or take care of others without loving and caring for ourselves first. Loving Kindness is more than just being nice. It’s being kind to everyone we meet, under any circumstances, in any situation, in the present moment. We need not always judge people based upon what they wear or what they smell like. We can be kind and respect all peoples regardless of age, gender, creed, tribe, nationality, language, culture, religion, or orientation.  Everyone we meet is ultimately trying to help us along, Higher Self to Higher Self, and we have a duty to meet all of creation where they are, in the Now.

In the words of Penelope Quest, “remember that living the Reiki Way doesn’t mean you have to be solemn and serious- life is meant to be enjoyed, so have fun, live life to the fullest, share happy times with people you love and bless Reiki for the gift it is in your life.”

20 Reiki Tips for Grief and Dying

It is that time of year again when we pay homage to the Ancestors and our Beloved Dead.

Many clients come to us for grief and broken hearts associated with a great loss. Death itself evoked so much fear in our modern society because we have grown to hide from the truth of it.

No one escapes this world untouched by the suffering of losing a loved one.

Not even us as Reiki Practitioners.

So here are a few tips to deal with Death and Dying as well as the Grief that inevitably comes with it. But also know this, with grief also comes acceptance and healing.

20 Reiki Tips for Grief and Dying

VIETNAM-10042

1. Allow yourself to cry. Bottling up your pain will only lead to further and deeper suffering down the road. I understand that perhaps you may be in charge of making arrangements for someone who has passed and do not wish to seem weak. You want to be strong for everyone else in this time of need. But you can still allow yourself moments in private where you let it out. Also, allow yourself to show it to your other loved ones. To be steel and hard as stone only shows how cold you can be. Of course, we all grieve differently, but to grieve in a healthy way means that you let yourself weep.

2. Cry some more.

3. Face the reality of your own death. Don’t avoid it. Let’s face it here and now. We will all die. Some day I too will die. My words and pictures will live on in the interweb, but my physical form will grow old and will someday die. Or tomorrow I will get hit by a bus. Who knows? But to live with our heads in the sand about this issue is unhealthy.

4. Allow yourself to get angry. Again, bottling up our pain will only lead to further and deeper suffering. If you are angry at your loved one for leaving you, good! This is normal. It does not mean you do not love them. Remember though, just for today, I will not let anger control me. It is healthy to get angry, but not so to allow that anger from inflicting further harm to yourself or others. Find a creative way to express your anger in a healthy manner. Paint. Dance. Hit a punching bag. Punch water. Swim. Run. And cry.

5. Consider seeing a Therapist. You don’t have to be crazy to see a therapist. You won’t be considered a bad Reiki Practitioner for asking for help. All therapists, this included Reiki Professionals, need and should have their own therapists. If you feel you are not dealing with your grief, death, or dying in a healthy manner, seek assistance. Or, if the situation is an especially sensitive one: a child’s death, murder, or other untimely death you may need the extra support of a trained professional.

UGANDA-10002NF

6. Bridge the Gap. As practitioners we will sometimes be put in hard situations, but remember your training. In a situation like this we have the dead or dying and then their family or friends. Helping to facilitate communication during this rite of passage is essential.

7. Let the dying person know you are feeling fearful or uncomfortable, or whatever emotion it is that you have. They’re going to figure it out anyway! It will let them know that you are taking steps to get past it and to give them what they need the most during this time.

8. Ask the dying person what they need or expect from you. Some dying people will want to talk very openly about their illness and their impending death. Others will want to avoid talking about it and choose to focus more on fond memories or their loved ones lives. Both are okay but knowing what it is the dying person wants to talk about during your interactions will go a long way. Some will not want to talk at all but may want you at their side to hold their hand, read them a book, or just to feel your presence.

9. Be honest about what you can offer as a practitioner. If they want you to visit daily and you can’t fit it into your schedule or don’t feel like you can handle that much emotional strain, let them know. Remember there will be other trained healthcare workers there to assist as well. The important thing is to not make a promise that can’t keep.

10. Offer a group healing circle for the family. This doesn’t mean that everyone will want to join in, but often during these times everyone needs a little extra love and support. Make arrangements with the proxy guardian or other family members who are interested. Ideally, it would be nice to set up a private session room at the nursing home or home where the dying is living. Obviously hospitals may not have adequate room for this, but you never know.

8450060514_88020757e4_k

11. Smile. Do what you need to do to keep your own spirits high. If you yourself are experiencing the loss, remember your own list of things to cope with this most unfortunate situation. Music always works wonders. Similarly if you can’t seem to cry, you may find music particularly moving.

12. Violet Flame before entering the hospital, nursing home, or residence. Dry bathe, Ken-yoku, before and after as well.

13. Self-heal with gusto. Taking care of yourself during this time will be most important. Think aromatherapy baths and body sprays. Make your light shine!

14. Focus on your heart center. While self-healing pay extra attention to your heart center. Incorporate green clothing into your wardrobe. Use Anahata corresponding crystals such as Malachite and Jade to aid with healing. Make a Rose Quartz Elixir. This is where you process all of your grief. Remember, just for today, I am Love.

15. Ask for assistance and pray. Ask your guides, Ascended Masters, and other healers to help you during this time. Remember, just for today, you are not alone. Stay connected to these compassionate energies in your life.

ITALY-10033

16. Say good-bye and let go. Whether they are dying or you are or you are experiencing something else that is contributing to your grief such as a divorce or break-up; there will come a time when you will need to let go. One of the hardest things to do in life is to say good-bye. But remember, all things are only temporary even the good things. Recognizing that loss is a part of life helps our hearts to open and continue to be open, not closed. Say good-bye in a wholehearted way to your loved one, and know that they are transitioning into just a different form, and different vibration, and a different awareness.

17. Remember the happy person you used to be before you knew them. And know that they would want you to yes, miss them, but they would also wish for you to be happy.

18. Respect and honour their memory. Visit their grave. Light a candle. Create an altar. You will know when to put it away and/or when to put it back up during the Hallowed Times of the year. Tell stories of their legacy. Remember the funny moments. Remember their accomplishments. And remember their failures. Know that they were only human, and so are you.

19. Using all the symbols and energies you feel necessary, Reiki the room they departed, the house, their possessions, their past, present, and future. Remember, their journey is just beginning, and so is yours. Your life has not ceased to exist. You are still alive and filled with love.

20. Ground and Center yourself in Nature. Seeking sanctuary in wilderness is incredibly consoling. Look for retreats to deal with your pain and suffering. Oftentimes fresh clean air and woods with their own therapeutic essential oils help release blocked energies and nature spirits aid healers in recovery.

Reiki Soup for the Soul

6231888661_d46943d836_b

After my post on 21 Reiki Tips for Ebola Virus Disease and other Pathogens, I was asked by someone what exactly was “Reiki Soup?”

So, I decided to share with you all my famous Get-Better-Because-You-Feel-Like-Hell-Warmed-Over Reiki Soup. This recipe is not only good for any dis-ease any time of the year because it is warm and hearty, and chock full of nutrient-rich yummies, but it is incredibly easy to make!

You will need a few supplies for this.

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Large Soup Pot (preferably not an anti-stick one)
  • Fresh veggies and herbs
  • Dried herbs too
  • Course Sea Salt (Pink Himalayan is extra yummy) and Fresh Cracked Black Pepper
  • Water from a quality source
  • Organic Cold-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • A wholegrain filler: brown rice, wheat pasta, or yummy barley.
  • A warm heart
  • Reiki Hands
  • Optional: Organic Local Free-range Chicken Legs

6160700631_e1e106e1f2_b

The key to this recipe is that I generally make it with whatever I have on hand. So the soup changes from make to make, but there are of course a few staples:

  • Lots of garlic, and onion (Sometimes fresh horseradish and ginger too)
  • Colour. Greens, reds, oranges, and yellows. (Reiki Soup should be appealing to your tongue, nose, and your eye.)
  • It needs to be easily digestible and fibrous. I wouldn’t add corn to this recipe.
  • Good Intentions. Chances are that you are either making this for yourself or a loved one, so this seems to be an obvious one. However, as you are cooking from prep to serving or transporting; one must be conscious and mindful of what you are adding to the pot. Try to skip on the worry, envy, anger, annoyance, and jealousy for this recipe.
  • Serve with a Smile. Serving others doesn’t just mean putting soup in a bowl. It is about the actual action of service to your fellow human beings. An act of random kindness for a neighbor or friend when they are ill and low-energy is a hallmark of any Reiki Practitioner. Reiki is so much more than laying on of hands.

Okay, so now I will give you the big dish of how to make a good heart-full Reiki Soup.

 Kale and Potato Reiki Soup

1. Add your Olive Oil to the pot and toss in 2 Large diced Onions and 4-5 diced garlic cloves. Cook over medium heat until the house smells like Grandma’s kitchen (7-8 minutes.)

2. Next, fill the pot with water 3/4 to the top. And give it a nice stir.

2.5* If you are adding organic meat add it now still on the bone and skim off any meat foam.

3. Clean your potatoes, carrots and other root-vegetables and dice them. I like to keep the skins on my carrots and potatoes because there is necessary fiber and nutrients in the skins which is essential. Plus, it will keep some of the potato from completely melting into mush. Although some will anyway.Add them to the pot.

4. Go to your garden and collect your fresh greens and herbs. Grab a handful of cilantro, parsley, sage, and basil. Cut a bowlful of kale as well. Bring them in and rinse them all off. Remove any bugs or grass clippings. And set aside.

5. Chop up some celery, tomato, mushrooms, and green, red, orange, and yellow peppers. Usually one of each but depends on the overall colour. Have fun! And add to the pot.

6. Add your dried herbs and salt and pepper. Look what is in your cabinet and add what you have. I like to add dried herbs du provence, bay leaf, oregano, basil, parsley, and my favourite DILL weed. Figure about 2-3 tablespoons each, and a couple dashes of red pepper flakes. 10-20 cracks of fresh black pepper. And 2-3 tablespoons of salt. 3 Bay leaves, and 1 tsp. of cayenne.

7. I like to make a floating mandala of herbs on top of the water. Use your Reiki hands to make any symbols you may know over it, and say your intentions. Then, mix the brew all up in a beautiful spiral of herbal love.

8. After about 10 minutes I like to add my filler. But be warned don’t add too much of a filler because they will soak up all of your broth and you will end up with more of a stew rather than a soup. For this recipe I wold add maybe a half-cup of barley or pasta depending on the size of the pot.

9. Towards the end of the soup, you will know by tasting whether it needs more this or that. I add the fresh kale and herbs. I like to pick off from the center stems of the kale and say little prayers or blessings as add to the soup.

10. Before serving, make your final blessings using the CKR, NGZ, and DKM symbols. If you aren’t a Reiki Practitoner, simply visualize the soup filling with harmony, health, and hugs of love. Be sure it isn’t too hot because you don’t want anyone to burn their tongues in addition to having a bad cold/flu. Serve with a side of homemade bread and a glass of refreshing herbal Reiki water.

21 Reiki Tips for the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)

EbolaCycle

Many of us in the states have become aware of the EVD outbreak in Africa, and of the man who flew in to Dallas, Texas. There is much panic, and rightly so, however as Reiki Practitioners we cannot allow ourselves to be swept up in the storm of fear.

To be effective healers, we must arm ourselves with knowledge, love, and practicality.

This is a virus.

It does not have a known cure, and the current survival rate is roughly 50%.

However there is still much we can do to work with this dis-ease.

20 Reiki Tips for Healing Big Nasty Pathogens: Ebola

1. Research. Compile yourself a list of trusted resources about the pathogen (Ebola) and learn about its background, transmission, symptoms, treatment, and prevention.

2. Discover how to understand exactly how the pathogen dances its dance, and why.

3. Meditate if you hit a wall.

4. Accept that this pathogen exists for a reason, and does serve a larger purpose. Remember viruses and bacteriums are living Beings as well that possess karma, energy, and passion.

5. Prepare yourself for what must be done, i.e. prepare yourself to say good-bye to the world or a loved one.

14775374991_a82073c62a_b

6. Create a crystal grid with an intention for healing those afflicted and a separate one for yourself. Make use of all your known Reiki Symbols, especially the Distanced and DKM Master Symbols.

7. Be sure to use Raku Master symbol at the end of any healing session distanced or otherwise to disconnect the bond that you have created between you and your client(s) just to be safe and for the good of all.

8. Take frequent breaks to ground and center yourself periodically throughout the session to discharge any energy you may be picking up. Remind to tell other practitioners to do this if you will be leading a healing circle.

9. Violet flame before, during, and afterward. As well as dry bathe.

10. Allow yourself to cry for those who are in pain and suffering. Don’t feel like you have to push those feelings down. A good Reiki Practitioner understands the value of such emotions. Acknowledge them, embrace them, release them, and then let them go to Source.

VIETNAM-10042

11. Master Healers. Blue Kyanite. Malachite. Citrine. Chrysocolla. Sulfur. Black Tourmaline. Hematite. Aventurine. Place any of these in or around the room or have on hand for yourself and others who do not show signs/symptoms. (The incubation period for Ebola, that is, the time interval from infection with the virus to onset of symptoms is 2 to 21 days. Humans are not infectious until they develop symptoms.)

12. Make use of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) and adhere to Engineering Controls, Work Practice Controls as well as Universal Precautions. Wash your hands with reverence before and afterwards, and thoroughly even though you won’t be directly touching the patient. Use a hand-sanitizer as well as a Medicinal-grade Essential Oil. But be warned don’t over do it. Skin breakdown of the hands will increase your risk for infection. Health-care workers have frequently been infected while treating patients with suspected or confirmed EVD. This has occurred through close contact with patients when infection control precautions are not strictly practiced.

13. It is also a very harsh dis-ease to work with because we as Reiki Practitioners are so used to touching, and in this case hands-free Reiki should be utilized AT ALL TIMES especially when the clients are showing signs/symptoms. However you can use guided imagery with the patient and teach it to the patient’s family in such a way that it can be intimate.

14. If you are giving direct care and touching the patient as well as their bedding/clothing which will obviously be contaminated with various fluids. Remember, Ebola spreads through human-to-human transmission via direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people, and with surfaces and materials (e.g. bedding, clothing) contaminated with these fluids. You should also bring an extra set of clothes in case they get soiled.

15. Try not to fall into despair. You ARE doing the work just by Being present. Do not give in to fear. Just for today, don’t be worried. Remember, Law of Attraction works for both the things we want and the things we don’t want to happen if we keep obsessing about them.

2980437796_efe01ca291_b

16. Make Reiki Soup, water, and tea. DO NOT EAT THE BUSHMEAT! Ebola: Another Reason to go Veggie. You need to keep your immunity up and this takes considerable food and energy to maintain. Be sure to eat wholesome foods with garlic, ginger, horseradish, onion, etc. and plenty of water/tea.

17. Rest. Getting enough sleep helps the immune system be in top condition. Also with rest, you will be less cranky and be able to be in good humour. Getting patients and family members to smile or laugh even during this troubling time is priceless.

18. Encourage the client to eat Reiki Soup/broth, water, and tea. Fluids are important along with hospital saline and electrolytes. However as the illness progresses this may become harder and harder for them to do.

19. Encourage the client to rest. Sleep is important. Again, as the illness progresses this may become difficult, however with effective pain management this can be induced if necessary.

20. Encourage the family members to do the same. If they are not themselves quarantined, those brave enough should be encouraged to keep their spirits high and hopeful as their energy will impact the patient. (Another reason to keep yours up as well.)

21. Stay connected to your relationship with compassion. In these hard times it is so very easy to get angry. At the Divine, at governments, at other health-care workers, at Big Pharma, at the patients themselves for putting you through such an ordeal, and even worse, yourself for thinking that you are not doing enough. Remember your precepts: Just for today, I will not be angry. Just for today I will be compassionate to myself and all other Beings.

Namaste Beloveds.

May we all come together in this troubling time for the Good of All.

Full Moon Blessings of the Sixth Stage of Endurance: The Realm of the Wild Woman

6189247140_f427a0a076_b

Please, join in where ever you are. Awake or asleep. Read this and reflect, and meditate. Wednesday, October 8th 2014 at 9pm EST.

And now, we delve into  the thick of the Wild.

At a fundamental level we all crave to take back which has been stolen from us and to reclaim our own wild sovereignty.

But the reclaiming always takes time and many hours, days, months, and years sometimes to gain it back. This is why creating sacred sanctuary is so essential in the spiritual and personal growth paths. The concept of sacred retreat originated from this premise. We need time not only to heal, but to also grow. Outside the grasp of those who would see us harm. Outside the forces of darkness that would see us fail. Outside of those things in our lives that we have perpetuated in previous toxic circumstances and environments.

Now that we have been tested and have seen straight through the attempts of others to see us backpedal to the very beginning, we are allowed to rest for real now. To seek refuge in a place untouched by the false-ego.

We have gone to the woods. We have begun and been shown the way. We have taken the path into the woods of the soul where we are safe, secure, and will be finally free from worry. And a funny thing happens when we no longer have to worry. We grow…

30655365_f456fcf522_o

WE HAVE COME THIS FAR.

Now, we strive to experience something a bit more, something a bit more deep and personal. A new layer to our psyches and consciousness.

We have learned and continue to learn incredible things about our selves, as we take the steps on this 7-Part Healing Meditation practice based on Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ work in her soul-opening book Women Who Run With the Wolves, and the story of the Handless Maiden.

So, welcome again friends to this 7-Part Series of Deep Psyche Digging & Surgery.

Now begins Part-6, the Sixth Stage of Endurance –
The Realm of the Wild Woman. The World of Empowerment & Regrowth.

If you havn’t already done so, or would like to refresh your memory, please read the full short story HERE: http://completehealthcircle.com/2014/07/21/new-moon-blessings-of-the-first-stage-of-endurance/

And if this is your first time with us, please take the time to look over the previous Stages:

40827237_3fd6b1ac3d_o

IN THE STORY

After the Handless Maiden comes to the largest, wildest forest she has ever seen, there are no disceranble paths, and picks her way over and through and around. Near dark, she is visited once more by the white spirit that led her to the king’s orchard. The spirit leads her through the woods to the sanctuary she most needs, a poor inn run by kind (and one supposes) wildly magical woodspeople. They know who the Queen Maiden and babe are, look after them, and allow her and her child to live there (again one supposes rent free) for seven years.

Throughout this seven year span, a wondrous thing happens. Slowly, the maiden’s hands grow back and return themselves to her.

The wilderness in a way has acted like fertilizer for her power, psyche, healing, and de facto, her hands.

Now, sure, in these seven years the maiden has been separated and estranged from her husband. Abandonment issues abound. She is raising a small child by herself, granted with the help of woodland spirits and fae folk for moral support. But she is also experiencing tremendous “enrichment and restoration and peace.”

There is an “infinitely merciful nature of the deep psyche during these periods of journey. There is always the next helper and the next.” Once we find our true soul homeland, our fiery and flowering heart can regain its roots.

SONY DSC

Now, the story does not tell us what happens specifically to the maiden, what specific mystical lessons she learns that brings about this regrowth and restful revivification. However, we know from various traditions that “our lifetimes are divided into phases of seven years each. Every sever-year period stands for a certain set of experiences and learnings. These phases can be understood concretely as terms of adult development, but they may more so be understood as spiritual stages of development that do not necessarily correspond to our chronological age, although they sometimes do.”

Since the beginning of time, our lives have been divided into phases, one rite of passage after the next, each having to do with the changing powers of our bodies. By sequentializing we are able to anticipate and prepare ourselves for “what comes next.” What comes next is the province of the instinctual Wild Woman.

She always knows.

Yet, across time, as the old wild initiation rites fell away, the instruction of the younger men and women by the elders about these inherent stages has been hidden away.

6225530793_306198433d_b

“Unrest, restlessness, yearning, changing, and growing brings the old patterns or phases of deep life back to light. Though we can put specific titles to these stages, they are all cycles of completion, aging, dying, and new life.” The seven years in the woods teaches the maiden the detail and dramas connected to these phases. The following are cycles of seven years each, stretching across an entire lifetime. Each has its rites and its tasks, but it is up to us to fill them in. The ages and stages of life provide both tasks to accomplish and attitudes in which to root ourselves.”

“These phases are not meant to be tied inexorably to chronological age, for some at eighty are still in developmental young maidenhood, and some at age forty are in the psychic world of the mist beings, and some twenty year olds are as battle scarred as long-lived crones. Each age represents a change in attitude, a change in tasking, and a change in values.”

Where do you fall? It isn’t about where you SHOULD be. It is all about where YOU ARE NOW.

0-7 : age of the body and dreaming/socialization, yet retaining imagination
7-14 : age of separating yet weaving together reason and the imaginal
14-21 : age of new body/ young maidenhood or young manhood/ unfurling yet protecting sensuality
21-28 : age of new world/ new life/ exploring the worlds
28-35 : age of the mother or father/ learning to mother or father others and self
35-42 : age of the seeker/ learning to mother self/ seeking the self
42-49 : age of early crone or wiseman/ finding the far encampment/ giving courage to others
49-56 : age of the underworld/ learning the words and rites
56-63 : age of choice/ choosing one’s world and the work yet to be done
63-70 : age of becoming watchwoman or watchman/ recasting all one has learned
70-77: age of reyouthanization/ more cronedom or wisemandom
77-84 : age of the mist beings/ finding more big in the small
84-91 : age of weaving with the scarlet thread/ understanding the weaving of life
91-98 : age of the ethereal/ less to saying, more to being
98-105 : age of pneuma, the breath
105+ : age of timelessness

“As we transit through these cycles from bodily knowing to becoming more internally sensing, our layers of defense, protection, and density become more and more sheet until our very soul begins to shine through. We can sense and see the movement of the soul within the body-psyche in an astonishing way as we grow older and older.”

6881014563_11f3bd72f6_b

And as we grow older and older we learn and we learn.

We begin to make use of all of our senses, practical and otherwise.

We awaken, we remember, and we evolve as we make our way along the path towards enlightenment. With each life phase we pass through. As more and more time goes on we develop and all seven of our senses of our “inward holy body” are worked and opened: animation, feeling, speech, taste, sight, hearing, and smelling. “Fire animates, earth gives a sense of feeling, water gives speech, air gives taste, mist gives sight, flowers give hearing, and the south wind gives smelling.”

As these wild senses come to us, our hands, our power, is returned to us.

At first, like the maiden with the hands of a baby, our understanding of all that has happened is imitative. Then we develop, as she does, a concrete but not absolute understanding of all things. Then finally, with a woman’s or man’s hands we have a practiced and deeper grasp of the nonconcrete, the metaphoric, and the sacred path we have been on.”

“As we practice the deep instinctive knowing about all manner of things we are learning over a lifetime, our hands return to us, the hands of our woman/manhood. It is amusing sometimes to watch ourselves as we first enter a psychic stage by imitating the behavior we would like to master. Later as we go along, we grow into our own spiritual phase, into our own rightful shape.”

break free

This is a period when we are charged to rise up to La Destina, the deep sense of our own destiny as a miraculous one.

With our eyes straight, palms outward, with the hearing of the instinctual self intact, we go into life in this new and powerful manner.

The regeneration of our grasp on our life and work sometimes causes momentary hiatus in the work, for we may not be totally confident of our newfound strengths. We may have to try them out for a time to realize how great their reach is.

We often have to re-form our ideas of once without power (hands), always without power. After all our losses and sufferings we find that if we will reach we will be rewarded by grasping the child that is most precious to us. This is where we feel that at long last we have a grasp on our life again, and palms to see with and to fashion life with once more. All through we have been helped by intrapsychic forces, and we have matured greatly.

We are truly “within ourSelf” now.

So we are almost to the end of walking the vast land of this long story. There is but one more stretch of crescendo and completion yet ahead.

14884555692_a329efa04d_b

MEDITATION

So now, let’s consider our centering thought,  “In the wild I am free.

Consider listening to the following music during the meditation:

Now, let’s prepare to meditate.  Make yourself comfortable and close your eyes.  Become aware of your breath and breathe slowly and deeply.  With each breath, allow yourself to become more relaxed.  You may wish to use a mantra with this meditation like “Wild is my heart”

Repeat it silently to yourself.  “Wild. Is. My. Heart.”

With each repetition, feel your body, mind and spirit open and receive just a little bit more of this nurturing and innate ability that is within you. With each repetition, imagine yourself walking along the path towards your soul’s home.

Connect with it. Allow the moon to pull it out from your depths, and OWN it! Feel the warmth return to your hands. Feel the warmth return to your heart. Feel your entire being warm with the power and strength that is inside of you.

Whether you are male or female, walk into the woods of your inner psyche with no hands carrying a newborn child wrapped to your chest. Allow a white spirit to show you the way to a sanctuary deep in the forest. This place is where you will be safe and protected for the duration of the meditation.

Allow yourself to meet the woodsfolk innkeeper who has been waiting for you for a very long time. You recognize her as a very old friend, beyond time and nationality. Her eyes are kind and her smile is warm. She welcomes you in with open arms.

Imagine yourself spending time here, learning things that you need to know. Allow the forest to teach you. Allow the innskeeper to teach you. For She is Wild Woman. Speak with Her. Ask any questions you feel you need to ask for personal growth and spiritual development. Find out what phase, what stage of life you are on. With each new lesson, imagine time passing. Imagine with each new lesson or insight that your childSelf is growing. And as he or she is growing in age, with each new bit of wisdom you are told you notice your hands growing just a little bit more.

Allow yourself time here. You have an whole hour.

Pace yourself. Really descend into the teachings of the Wild Woman.

Listen. Learn. Use all seven of your senses. Do as She asks, and set the intention that there will be at least seven lessons to learn. At least seven blocks that you will need to break through.

As you unlock the first lesson, imagine your small little fingers to grow with the colour RED.

As you unlock the second lesson, imagine your fingers growing a little bit more with the colour ORANGE.

As you unlock the third lesson, imagine your fingers growing a little bit more with the colour YELLOW.

As you unlock the fourth lesson, imagine your fingers growing a little bit more with the colour GREEN.

As you unlock the fifth lesson, imagine your fingers growing a little bit more with the colour TURQUOISE.

As you unlock the sixth lesson, imagine your fingers growing a little bit more with the colour INDIGO BLUE.

And finally, as you unlock the seventh lesson, imagine your fingers growing to full size with the colour VIOLET.

Once your hands have returned to normal, you experience a new found strength and power and love in them. Continue to meditate for as long as you can or want.

Thank Wild Woman for her gifts, and take everything you have learned back into regular reality and time.

Open your eyes. Look down at your hands. What do they look like? Feel them. Rub them together.
